How To Sleep: Remember To Do This In The Morning For A Restful Night’s Slumber
HOW TO SLEEP: Getting enough shut eye on a night can be difficult as we approach the peak of summer, with longer days and warmer temperatures. But crying out a particular ritual in the morning could bode for a more peaceful snooze.
Sleep is important when it comes to our physical health – not having enough can put you in a bad mood and result in lack of focus.
If poor sleep becomes a recurring thing, you can be at risk of serious medical conditions such as obesity, heart disease and diabetes, according to the NHS.
Most of us need around eight hours of good quality sleep a night, so how can you ensure a restful night’s slumber?
Sleep Foundation says making sure you do a specific thing in the morning can affect your sleep that night.
Making your bed after you get out of it can make for better sleep.
It states: We tend to think of making our beds as a routine morning chore, but it turns out the ritual may be more meaningful than that. The results of a recent Bedroom Poll by the National Sleep Foundation found that many people believe clean, neat and comfortable elements of the bedroom environment are important to getting a good night’s sleep.”
More than 90 per cent of people said a comfortable mattress and pillows are important to the sleep experience.
But more than three quarters of people also believe that the comfortable feel of sheets and bedding are important to a good night’s rest, and 62 per cent said a clean bedroom makes the difference.
People who reported making their bed in the morning were 19 p percent more likely to get a good night’s sleep every night.
It added: “It’s not clear why this is, but perhaps there is a connection between feeling good about where you sleep and your tendency to sleep through the night.”
