Movies That Will Boost Your Love Life
Love a rom-com? Turns out, it could actually help your love life. Being idealistic gives greater feelings of relationship satisfaction a study published in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships found, as romantics are likely to think their partners are perfect.
So settle down with one of the classics – just don’t take on any life advice from them…
1. Husbands and Wives (1992)
This powerful drama is about two middle-aged couples experiencing tough times in their respective relationships. As a result of entering various mid-life crises, the characters go through several difficult moments, such as marriages coming and ending and scandals erupting. The result of all this is that they have to go through a great deal of introspection. In fact, the movie tries to answer whether it’s humanly possible for marriages and love to always be harmonious.
Cher Horowitz, a privileged high school student from Beverly Hills, and her friend Dion tackle teenage life – friendship, boys, sex and how to accessorise a plaid skirt – while trying to makeover new girl at school Tai, before realising they might need a lifestyle makeover themselves.
Lena De Casparis, Culture & Special Projects Director, says: ‘From the pure optimism of Cher, laugh out line one liners, and that happy making wardrobe – everything about clueless will make you feel good.’
3. Blue Valentine (2010)
Principle characters Dean and Cindy fell in love many years ago, but recently their feelings for each other have diminished. This movie’s plot is played out through highlighting all the little details of the characters’ daily lives, with the ultimate lesson being that it is the little things that remind us all why we fell in love in the first place.
4.Sex and The City: The Movie
This movie will pump you up and help you cope with a breakup. If Carrie can bounce back from getting left at the altar, and Miranda can make it after Steve cheats on her, you can deal with well. . .pretty much anything. This movie is a great reminder that change is good and you can get by with a little help from your friends. As Carrie perfectly puts it, “Life doesn’t always turn out to be your fantasy, that’s why you need friendship to get you through it all.” It’s a nice reminder that friends are there for you, even when it feels like everything else around you is falling apart.
5.DIRTY DANCING (1987)
Spoilt little rich girl takes money from father to win bad boy dreamboat.
