People Are At The Core Of High-Quality Health Care
Showing appreciation for and honoring those working in health care environments are the essence of the celebration of Hospital Week and Nurses Week, both commencing from May 6 through 12. Hospital Week, sponsored by the American Hospital Association, recognizes the men and women who come together to support the health and well-being of their communities through their dedication to providing compassionate care. Nurses Week honors the valuable contributions nurses make within the American health care system.
Hospitals make up one-sixth of the U.S. economy; because everyone has health care needs, at some point everyone comes in contact with a hospital. The care we receive in the hospital setting – whether it be outpatient testing, an inpatient hospital stay or an emergency – is influenced by more than just those with a medical background. Hospital Week celebrates every employee who works together to ensure patient care and experience are of the highest quality and compassionate. That is no different at Lake Huron Medical Center. With more than 700 employees working across 58 departments, each member of the LHMC team is dedicated to providing compassionate care to all those in the Blue Water Area. Each member of the LHMC team is committed to ensuring your time within our walls is pleasant, respectful and central to allowing you to achieve your health care goals. At Lake Huron Medical Center we are members of this community, members you can count on and who will be here for you in your health journey.
National Nurses Week provides a dedicated time to reflect on the significant contributions nurses make in the medical community. Nurses are on the front lines of patient care delivery which may be why the public has rated nursing the most honest and ethical profession in health care for the past 16 years. The scope of a nurse’s expertise, knowledge and carefully refined people skills elevate the patient care experience and are critical to delivering high-quality, compassionate care.
Lake Huron Medical Center is proud of its nursing staff. The tremendous amount of time our nurses spend with patients allows them to comprehensively monitor patient progress; provide detailed information to physicians; and become an invaluable emotional support to patients and families, understanding the complexities and implications of an illness. Nurses become a patient’s greatest advocate and exercise compassion and outstanding health care daily. Their ability to treat patients while counseling, providing education and understanding to navigate chronic or sudden illnesses is a critical role in the health care setting of our community.
Commitment to Community
Lake Huron Medical Center is a proud member of the Blue Water Area for more than 60 years. Through expansions and change, it continues to be committed to elevating the health status of the community. Our team is made up of members of this community, neighbors healing neighbors, working diligently, daily, to deliver the high-quality and compassionate care this area deserves and is accustomed to.
Lake Huron Medical Center remains focused on not only preserving but expanding care to ensure its neighbors do not have to leave town for state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment options or high-quality, compassionate, immediate health care. Lake Huron Medical Center’s Cancer Center provides 3D mammography and radiation therapy utilizing the TrueBeam linear accelerator. The Emergency Department routinely has measured door to doctor wait times of 11 minutes, ensuring when emergency care is needed, patients are treated quickly and with compassion. Updated, advanced technology, focusing on patient comfort and healing, is being introduced. Robotic-assisted surgery, using the da Vinci© Si Surgical System, takes surgery beyond the limits of the human hand, offering great benefits to patients. Additionally, patients needing an MRI now have the option of utilizing the Magnetom Espree, a wide bore MRI machine. This technology provides a more spacious environment during an MRI offering greater comfort by helping to eliminate anxiety caused by claustrophobia and delivering high powered images for more accurate results.
